On The Other Side

I see the ghost of my father
Browsing through a used book store
His dead hands caressing the pages
Of a volume of timeless love poems

And I see the ghost of my mother
Travelling around the world
To places she could never visit
After her mind turned against her

And I see the ghost of my sister
Building a dollhouse of dreams
With a family that’s always happy
As if sorrow is an empty shadow

And I see the ghost of myself
Staring back at me from a mirror
To tell me that death is a doorway
To the things you longed for in life
